ROHM has developed a high (eight volt) gate breakdown voltage (rated gate-source voltage) technology for 150V GaN HEMT devices – optimised for power supply circuits in industrial and communication equipment.

ROHM has announced the GMR320 series of shunt resistors featuring a rated power of 10W. GMR320 series is the largest rated power product in ROHM high-power low-ohmic GMR series lineup designed for high power applications in the automotive, industrial equipment, and home appliances.

ROHM developed four new 600V IGBT Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs) of its BM6437x series that deliver low noise characteristics together with low loss for power conversion in inverters. The devices are used in compact industrial equipment, such as small capacity motors for robots, as well as home appliances – including air conditioners and washing machines.

ROHM has developed ultra-compact high luminous intensity white chip LEDs, called CSL1104WB. The products are optimised for applications requiring high brightness white light emission, such as IoT devices, drones, and other battery equipped applications.

ROHM has announced the new BD34301EKV, a 32bit D/A converter IC designed for high fidelity audio equipment – capable of high-resolution playback of audio sources. At the same time, ROHM also provides BD34301EKV-EVK-001 evaluation boards to test the performance of ROHM’s new IC that is sold via distributor channels.

As of April 1st, 2021, ROHM Semiconductor Europe has appointed Wolfram Harnack as the company's new President. The former President, Toshimitsu Suzuki, will lead the European Sales Division as General Manager from April 1st from the company's headquarters in Japan. Wolfram Harnack joined ROHM Semiconductor Europe GmbH as Managing Director in October 2020.

ROHM has released a 24-model lineup of -40V/-60V withstand voltage P-channel MOSFETs available in both single (RQxxxxxAT/RDxxxxxAT/RSxxxxxAT/RFxxxxxAT) and dual configurations (UTxxx5/QHxxx5/SHxxx5) – well suited for industrial and consumer applications such as factory automation, robotics, and air conditioning systems.

  Many power electronic applications such as automotive traction drives, PV inverter, railway traction drives and servo drives require a three-phase inverter power stage to convert DC to three phase AC voltage. ROHM introduces a new ultra-compact side-emitting (side view) infrared LED, CSL1501RW. The device is well suited  for head-mounted displays, industrial headsets, and VR/MR/AR (xR, virtual reality) gaming systems.

ROHM has recently held an opening ceremony announcing the completion of a new building at ROHM Apollo's Chikugo plant to enhance the production capacity of SiC power devices. The new building is an environmentally friendly factory that introduces a number of energy-saving technologies to its production facilities, with 100% of its electricity coming from renewable energy sources.

ROHM’s newly introduced 125°C operation compatible I²C bus EEPROMs, BR24H-5AC series targets applications that require data storage under harsh environments, such as factory settings for onboard cameras and sensors, airbag operating history, and data logging for always-on operating industrial automation systems and servers.

ROHM’s newly developed VCSEL technology achieves greater accuracy in spatial recognition and distance measuring systems by using Time Of Flight (TOF) systems. The VCSEL (short for vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser) module technology has become popular in recent years with the adoption of laser light sources for spatial recognition in tablets and facial recognition in smartphones.

ROHM has developed a new lineup of twelve automotive primary DC/DC converters. The BD9P series is optimised for ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) sensors, cameras, and radars, along with car infotainment and instrument clusters.

ROHM Semiconductor has announced its participation in electronica virtual, the digital trade fair and conference for the electronics industry. At the event, ROHM will showcase the latest semiconductor technologies and solutions for automotive, industrial, consumer, and other sectors in various digital formats, including online seminars, podcasts, white papers, and presentation files.

As of October 1st 2020, Wolfram Harnack is the new Managing Director of ROHM Semiconductor Europe. He reports directly to the President of the company Toshimitsu Suzuki. The position has been newly created and is of strategic importance for ROHM's growth within Europe.

The Board of Directors of ROHM has appointed Isao Matsumoto as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of ROHM. Matsumoto has worked for ROHM since 1985. Most recently he was responsible for quality, safety and production as Director, Member of the Board and Managing Executive Officer.

ROHM Group company, LAPIS Semiconductor, has announced the automotive speech synthesis ICs, ML2253x series, optimised for audible notifications and sound effects in ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) and AVAS (Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System).

ROHM and Leadrive Technology (LEADRIVE), the Chinese leading manufacturer of automotive powertrain for new energy vehicles with headquarters in Shanghai, held an opening ceremony of their joint laboratory on SiC technology in the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone (Lingang New Area), after agreeing to partner to develop SiC-based automotive inverters.
