ams gains tier-one automotive design win for AS8222 FlexRay transceiver

ams announced today that it has gained another high-volume design win for its FlexRay transceiver family. The AS8222 transceiver was designed for extended high-temperature operation, and will be used in a transmission control module manufactured by a top tier-one automotive supplier. The module will be used in a family of cars manufactured by one of Europe’s largest car manufacturers.

austriamicrosystems has announced the AS8222 FlexRay transceiver. This transceiver, with an in-package maximum ambient temperature of 150°C and bare dice with a maximum temperature of 165 °C, is the first to be able to work in harsh, high temperature powertrain applications. This extended temperature range enables the use of FlexRay™ in every vehicle domain, especially in environments beyond the standard automotive requirements.

Audi / Volkswagen select austriamicrosystems’ FlexRay transceiver for Electronic Control Units
austriamicrosystems (SIX: AMS), a leading global designer and manufacturer of high performance analog ICs announced that Audi / Volkswagen has selected the AS8221 FlexRay transceiver for use in their Electronic Control Units (ECUs). The AS8221 fully conforms to the FlexRay Electrical Physical Layer Specification V2.1 Rev B and is targeted for use in ECUs connected to the permanent battery supply where the transceiver manages the ECU power-up via its inhibit output pins.
