Magnetic position sensors comply with highest safety standards
Supplier of high performance sensor solutions, ams, has announced a new series of magnetic position sensors with increased safety and diagnostic capabilities to help automotive OEMs achieve the highest in ISO26262 ASIL system safety-level compliance. The AS5270A/B devices are suitable for many automotive applications including brake and gas pedals, throttle valve and tumble flaps, steering wheel position, chassis ride-height, Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valves, fuel-level measurement systems, and 2/4 wheel drive switching.

The AS5147P's accurate absolute and incremental measurement outputs at speeds up to 28,000rpm make it suited for use in safety-critical applications such as electric power steering, brake and accelerator pedals, pumps, double-clutch transmissions, starter motors, alternators and windscreen wiper motors.

NFC reader IC selected for car door locking module
ams AG has announced that automotive equipment supplier Marquardt is using its AS3914 NFC reader IC in a series of contactless door lock and ignition control modules. Marquardt chose the AS3914 because it enables very reliable NFC coupling even when mounted in close proximity to sheet metal. The device also offers lower average power consumption than competing NFC reader ICs.

An integrated automotive sensor interface, from ams, has been utilised by BMW in the battery sensor of the i3 series EVs. The battery management system (BMS), which monitors the voltage and current of the 400V li-ion battery powering the electric motors, uses the AS8510 to provide extremely accurate measurements. This enables an accurate estimation of the range the vehicle can cover before the battery is completely discharged.

The AS8530 is a power management and communication device that includes a LIN 2.1 transceiver, a 50mA LDO to supply a local micro and a reset generator in an 8-pin SOIC 8 package.
