Doubles energy density of solid-state batteries
At the European Electric Vehicle Batteries Summit, imec and partner in EnergyVille, announced a solid-state Li-metal battery cell with an unsurpassed energy density of 400 Wh/litre at a charging speed of 0.5C (2 hours). Imec have also started to upscale the materials and processes in a pilot line for fabrication of solid-state pouch cells at the EnergyVille Campus in Genk and is set-up in collaboration with the University of Hasselt.
Commercial-scale production of bio-based plastic achieved
Neste and LyondellBasell have announced the first parallel production of bio-based polypropylene and bio-based low-density polyethylene at a commercial scale. The joint project used Neste’s renewable hydrocarbons derived from sustainable bio-based raw materials, such as waste and residue oils.

Tomorrow is the kick-off of the Africa Cup of Nations 2019 with the opening match at Cairo International stadium. Signify is providing the lighting to the stadium and four other stadiums that welcome the biennial international men's football championship of Africa. The tournament is hosted by Egypt and is held from June 21st to July 19th, 2019.
