Working towards full ESA certification
Newtec has announced it is working with QinetiQ on two key projects as it enters the Belgian space market. QinetiQ has chosen Newtec’s Manufacturing Competence Center (MCC), in Erpe-Mere, Belgium, to provide the soldering of on-board electronics for two projects.
Breaking ground at a new UK Global Technology Centre
In the first half of 2019 GKN Aerospace broke ground on a 10,000 square metre UK Global Technology Centre (GTC) in Bristol and has secured 25 collaboration partners for the new Centre. The new GTC, funded by a £17m commitment from GKN Aerospace and £15m commitment from the UK Government, through the ATI Programme, is expected to open in 2020.
Strawberry-picking robots to gather enough fruit for Wimbledon
Wimbledon fans, who consume 34 thousand kilos of strawberries every year, could one day get their strawberries picked by a small group of new robots, developed in Europe, that use photonics to detect a fruit, and are capable of gathering enough berries for the championships in less than a week.

KNX RF training kit for certified centres
The KNX Association has given the target that by the end of 2019, KNX RF should be added to the KNX Basic Course by all European training centres. Therefore, all certified training centres in Europe will use at least one KNX RF switch and one KNX RF media coupler.

Held at the Hyatt Regency Boston, the event brought together 100 of the semiconductor company’s top suppliers for a day of recognition, celebration and relationship building.
