TI Introduces High-Power LED Driver For Automotive And General-Purpose Area Lighting

TI Introduces High-Power LED Driver For Automotive And General-Purpose Area Lighting
Texas Instruments today introduced a high-power, multi-topology DC/DC LED driver with adjustable switching frequency and current sense threshold that provides design flexibility and low electro-magnetic interference (EMI) for automotive headlamps, fog lights and general-purpose area lighting. The TPS92690 is an N-channel MOSFET controller with low-side current sense designed to support step-up (boost) or step-up/step-down (SEPIC, Cuk, flyback) LED driver topologies.

Intelligent LED headlamps will make nighttime driving safer

Intelligent LED headlamps will make nighttime driving safer
Research project focuses on adaptive forward lighting systems to increase driver and passenger safety. Adaptive forward lighting, in other words, glare-free camera-controlled headlamps that react instantly to changing conditions at night, will be helping to keep drivers and their passengers safer, as a consortium of high-tech automotive heavyweights design and build additional intelligent functions. The key to this complex functionality is the integration of microelectronics and optoelectronics – one of the principal aspects of the research project sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (FMER). Osram Opto Semiconductors is contributing its expertise as the project coordinator and market leader in LED lighting for the automotive sector
