Worldwide automotive entertainment systems vendor share ranking - 2015

According to the latest analysis by Semicast Research, Harman and Panasonic led the automotive entertainment systems vendor share ranking in 2015, ahead of Alpine, Bosch, Clarion and Continental. Collectively these six suppliers are estimated to have accounted for two-thirds of shipments to this market last year. The major news however is the growing influence of Apple and Google in the auto market.

2015 leading vendors of semiconductors to the OE automotive sector

According to the latest analysis by Semicast Research, NXP was the leading vendor of semiconductors to the OE automotive sector in 2015. Infineon Technologies passed Renesas Electronics to become the second largest vendor, with STMicroelectronics and Texas Instruments completing the top five. Semicast estimates that revenues for OE automotive semiconductors totaled $28.2bn in 2015.

According to analysis by Semicast Research, Continental and Bosch topped the worldwide OE automotive entertainment systems vendor share ranking in 2014, with both suppliers considerably ahead of Alpine and Harman Becker. Collectively these four suppliers are estimated to have accounted for about half of OE automotive entertainment systems shipments in 2014.

Continental and Robert Bosch maintained their positions as the dominant suppliers of automotive under-the-hood ECU electronics in 2013, according to analysis by Semicast Research. In thrid place was Denso, with the top 3 suppliers estimated to account for half of the automotive under-the-hood ECU electronics market.

Renesas beat Infineon to 2013 leading OE automotive vendor

According to the latest analysis by Semicast Research, Renesas Electronics was the leading vendor of semiconductors to the OE automotive sector in 2013, ahead of Infineon Technologies. STMicroelectronics retained its position as third largest vendor, with Freescale fourth and NXP fifth.  Semicast estimates that revenues for OE automotive semiconductors totaled USD 27.1 billion in 2013.

According to the latest analysis by Semicast Research, Renesas Electronics was again the leading vendor of semiconductors to the OE automotive sector in 2012, ahead of Infineon Technologies. STMicroelectronics retained its position as third largest supplier, with Freescale fourth and NXP fifth. Semicast calculates that revenues for OE automotive semiconductors grew by twelve percent to USD 25.5 billion in 2012, while the total semiconductor industry is judged to have declined by almost three percent to USD 292 billion.

OE Automotive Semiconductors Set to Grow to USD 25.5 billion in 2012, but Will Europe Brake the Global Market?

Findings from the latest Semicast report “Automotive Market for Semiconductors — 2012 Edition” suggest the market for OE automotive semiconductors grew to USD 22.7 billion in 2011, from USD 20.8 billion in 2010. Revenues are forecast to increase by twelve per cent to USD 25.5 billion in 2012, although growth is dependent on both rising global light vehicle production volumes and a clear resolution of the European debt crisis. However Semicast reaffirms its positive long term view of growth prospects for the OE automotive semiconductor sector, with the trends towards hybrid vehicles/EVs, enhanced safety systems and increased wireless connectivity forecast to drive semiconductor revenues in the automotive sector to USD 45 billion in 2018.

OE AUTOMOTIVE SEMICONDUCTORS TO GROW TO $39 BILLION IN 2017

Findings from the Semicast report “Automotive Market for Semiconductors — 2011 Edition” show sales of OE automotive semiconductors grew by almost twenty per cent in 2010, to $20 billion. Steady growth is projected for much of the decade ahead, with sales forecast to almost double to $39 billion in 2017.
