Piezoelectric device measures magentic properties for EVs

The development of a technology for measuring the magnetic properties of materials when force (stress) is applied has Fujitsu Laboratories. This will be vital to enabling more advanced large-scale simulations of the kinds of magnetic fields found in the motors of Electric Vehicles (EV). EV engines, which have numerous operating conditions, such as their rotational speed, need to be prototyped and tested repeatedly under these different conditions.

Two Companies known for their innovative solutions combine their forces to work together on the next generation of instrument cluster for commercial vehicles: the leading international automotive supplier Continental and Fujitsu Semiconductor Embedded Solutions Austria GmbH (FEAT), a major HMI tool provider and development partner for worldwide automotive, industrial and telecommunication customers. At the 4th Automotive Cockpit HMI in Bonn (September 24 – 27, 2013) Continental and FEAT will demonstrate the latest trends and developments in Human-Machine Interaction (HMI) applications, leveraging both 2D and 3D development capabilities, for fast performance, high quality, and an enhanced user experience. Fujitsu to Begin Sample Shipments of GaN Power Device with 150V Breakdown Voltage

Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited today announced the release of MB51T008A, a silicon substrate-based, gallium-nitride (GaN) power device that features a breakdown voltage of 150 V. Sample quantities of the new product will be made available starting July 2013. The new device, which enables normally-off operations, is capable of achieving roughly one half the figure of merit (FOM) of silicon-based power devices with an equivalent breakdown voltage. With the addition of the new product to its lineup, Fujitsu Semiconductor will be able to offer GaN devices that contribute to smaller, more efficient power supplies for a wide range of fields, from home appliances and ICT equipment to automotive applications.

Fujitsu Announces First Single-Chip Solution for Automotive Hybrid Instrument Cluster with Secure Hardware Extension (SHE)
Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe today announced the expansion of its scalable line-up for automotive instrument clusters, which offers everything from MCUs for traditional clusters to 3D graphics for on-chip systems (SoCs), and is capable of driving both virtual and freely programmable clusters. MB9EF226 – nick-named ‘Titan’ – is the newest member of Fujitsu’s FCR4 family, which is based on the well-established ARM Cortex-R4 core. The MCU provides intelligent support for up to six traditional gauges plus the 2D graphics engine ‘IRIS’, enabling it to drive a colour display in the same cluster. By including a Secure Hardware Extension (SHE) module, it also offers customers first-class security, since the module is completely implemented in hardware.

Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe today announced the expansion of its scalable line-up for automotive instrument clusters, covering everything from MCUs for traditional clusters up to 3D graphic systems on chips (SoC), as well as being capable of driving virtual or free programmable clusters. The newest member of Fujitsu's FCR4 family, the MB9DF125, nicknamed 'Atlas-L', is based on the well-established ARM Cortex-R4 core and includes a Secure Hardware Extension (SHE) module offering customers secure high-performance operation. The SHE block is fully hardware-implemented to ensure the highest levels of security.

Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe announces the expansion of its scalable line-up for automotive instrument clusters, covering everything from MCUs for traditional clusters up to 3D graphic Systems on Chips (SoC), and capable of driving virtual or free programmable clusters. Named MB9DF126 ‘Atlas’, the new 2MB Flash/208KB RAM MCU with APIX Interface and ARM core offers customers high performance and exceptional memory content. FSEU’s new MCU will enable innovative driver information systems with increased functionalities, running more sophisticated software solutions and supporting the AUTOSAR specification. MB9DF126 ‘Atlas’ is optimised to perform well against industry considerations such as safety, security and power consumption. The first samples of the MB9DF126 ‘Atlas’ MCU, which has been developed in Fujitsu’s MCU Competence Centre in Langen near Frankfurt, will become available in Q2/2012.

Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe today announced the latest addition to its graphics controller range: a highly-integrated, single-chip graphics solution for automotive display systems. MB88F334 ‘Indigo2’ is a new graphics controller with an integrated APIX2 interface that has been optimised for automotive applications such as instrument clusters, central display and entertainment systems and next-generation head-up displays. What makes Fujitsu's new controller really unique is the high level of throughput it achieves for copy-protected image and control data. In combination with data transfer via Ethernet, the controller is turned into a purpose-built, yet flexible component for demanding, in-vehicle graphical applications.
