The 'first' electric moped is set to launch this summer. Gogoro introduced the Gogoro Smartscooter EV and the Gogoro Energy Network earlier this year. The scooter is the world’s first high-performance, smart electric two-wheel vehicle with swappable batteries. The integrated network is an advanced battery-swapping infrastructure for cities.

The scooter can go from 0-50km/h in just 4.2s, while being able to reach 95km/h. The moped has swappable batteries which take 10s to install. It will need special battery swap stations, as it is impossible to charge it at home. Due to this the first battery swap station is being installed in Taipei.

The batteries are not rechargable, so users will simply disposable of the Li-ion batteries and replace them with two new fully charged ones.

Sitting in suitable balanced weight distribution, riders experience a natural handling, allowing them to lean into turns. The streamlined design has no tail pipes and external gearboxes to worry about. Enabling users to hit 48.5° angles for faster turns.

The entire drivetrain is waterproofed to IPX7 standards, which means it won’t back down to even the worst weather. The tires are a dual compound design innovation. The harder rubber along the center reduces friction, increasing energy efficiency. Softer rubber with a custom Gogoro designed tread on the sides provided better traction in turns.
