Planar Selected to Provide Thin Film Electroluminescent Technology to Dytecna Systems Engineering (UK) for Military Vehicle Displays

Planar Systems, Inc. today announced that its proprietary thin film electroluminescent (TFEL) display technology has been chosen by United Kingdom-based Dytecna Systems Engineering for its new Crew Information Screen (CIS) design. Dytecna Systems Engineering Ltd., which manufactures and supplies power distribution solutions and Military Land Systems HUMS (Health and Usage Monitoring Systems) for use in military vehicles, containers, shelters, marine and rail applications, required a monitor that could endure the extreme temperatures and demanding ergonomic conditions encountered by armored vehicle drivers, and could meet the rigorous requirements of the UK's Ministry of Defense. Planar's TFEL solution demonstrates Planar's ongoing strategy to deliver display solutions specifically designed for high-performance operations in challenging environments and specialty government and military applications.

Leak-proof air conditioning lines are a prerequisite for the reliable operation of automotive air conditioning systems. Therefore, suppliers have to ensure that defective parts are separated from good ones prior to shipping the product to the customer. Great Wall presents Brose with Excellent Development Award

On January 8th, 2011, Chinese car manufacturer Great Wall presented Brose's Asian headquarters in Shanghai with its Excellent Development Award. The award was given for the supplier's development work on the introduction of the Unilatch® side door closure system. Each year, Great Wall presents awards to the best of its 560 suppliers in the categories Development, Quality, Collaboration and Best Supplier.

Brose sets-up joint-venture for electric motors in Korea

Brose International GmbH, Coburg, and Mando Corporation, Seoul, one of the leading automotive suppliers in Korea, have set up a joint-venture which will trade under the name of Mando-Brose Corporation. Each partner holds a 50% stake in the company.

New low carbon vehicle programme to deliver a REEVolution in performance of premium electric cars

The Technology Strategy Board alongside the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the Office for Low Emissions Vehicles (OLEV) has today announced funding for the next stage of its Integrated Delivery Programme (IDP) Competition for Low Carbon Vehicles. A consortium of automotive partners has been awarded £9.5million to expand and enhance technology for range extended electric vehicles (REEV) in the premium sector in a research project called REEVolution.

Successful bid for pioneering pilot project Bosch establishes e-mobility service platform in Singapore

The Bosch Group has successfully bid for a pilot project in Singapore that includes a software-based service platform for e-mobility, as well as the necessary charging and communication infrastructure that goes with it. The target customers and users of the platform are people who drive or rent electric vehicles. The internet-based eMobility Solution” not only helps drivers find available charge spots, but also lets them reserve spots in advance. That is particularly significant in megacities, where parking space and thus space for charge spots is limited.
