Mitsubishi Electric Delivers World's First SiC Auxiliary Power Supply Systems for Railcars

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation announced today that it has commercialized and delivered railcar auxiliary power supply systems that incorporate the world's first silicon carbide (SiC) power modules for actual use in operating trains. Systems now being installed for test operation in new Type 1000 railcars of Tokyo Metro's Ginza Line subway are scheduled to enter commercial operation in June.

30 W DC-DC Converter Complies With Railway Transient And EMC Standards
XP Power today announced the RDC30 series of highly efficient metal cased and isolated 30 W DC-DC converters designed specifically for railway applications. Accommodating a wide input range based around the popular railway input voltages of either 72 (36-140) VDC or 110 (55-176) VDC, the converters are available with single, dual or triple outputs and conform to the railway industry transient standards EN50155, NF F 01-510 and RIA12. The single output models provide the standard regulated output voltage of 3.3, 5, 12 or 15 VDC, and duals provide +/- 5, +/- 12 or +/- 15 VDC. Triple output models provide a 3.3 VDC output with either +/- 12 or +/- 15 VDC outputs, or a 5 VDC output with either +/- 12 or +/- 15 VDC outputs.

At Railtex 2013, HARTING will feature a number of new developments in its range of connectivity and RFID solutions for the rail industry. New products include the Han(R) HC Individual: a new industrial connector family providing flexible contact arrangement options, allowing individually sealed 350 A contacts (to protection class IP 66) to be arranged in configurations with up to ten adjacent connections on one supporting rail. This interface can be very easily separated thanks to a stainless steel lever system with integrated contact guide. Each individual connection can be assembled separately, and engaged and exchanged individually.
