Suitable for supplying points, signal lamps and electronic monitoring of the rail net, MTM Power has introduced the HVC series 250W DC/DC converters for railway applications. The devices are available with an input range of 420-1100V dc (375-1125V dc for less than 2 seconds), isolation up to 8 kV ac and the standard output voltage of 24V dc.

With these high voltage converters it is possible to supply electronic equipment out of 600/750V contact wire. A key feature of the HVC250 is its use as a self starting module for trams or trolley buses with exhaustive discharged batteries so that the towing process can be avoided.

The rugged design and high-quality components guarantee high reliability in vehicles even under severe shock and vibration conditions. The high efficiency of greater than 88% and the dimensions of 330x170x87mm allow an operation without forced ventilation. Additionally, the HVC250 converters operate within an ambient temperature range from -40 to +85°C according to EN 50 155.
