A high-performance, ultra-low capacitance TVS (Transient Voltage Suppression) device has been released by Semtech. To safeguard the sensitive electronics common in today’s automotive infotainment and telematics systems, the RClamp0531TQ provides outstanding low-clamping voltage performance.

The single-line, automotive-qualified device is based on the company’s highly differentiated process technologies, allowing it to deliver high transient protection. In the automotive industry, where maximum ESD protection is required, this low-clamping voltage protection performance is critical.

The RClamp0531TQ, which is qualified to grade 1 of the AEC-Q100 automotive reliability standard, is housed in a small 1.0x0.6mm package, allowing designers to optimise their circuit board layout.

“With the rapid increase of electronics in today’s highly connected cars, robust ESD protection is more important to automakers than ever before,” said Rick Hansen, Product Marketing Director for Protection Products, Semtech. “The RClamp0531TQ expands Semtech’s growing automotive product family and offers electronics engineers the high reliability and high performance in ESD protection that Semtech is known for.”

The RClamp0531TQ is available now, priced at $0.36 each and sold in 3,000 unit quantities. Comprehensive design assistance, including field- and factory-based support, is offered by Semtech.
