SRA LT/HT extreme temperature nickel-cadmium batteries ensure the continuity of auxiliary systems for passenger safety and fail-safe train start-up. They come in two versions: SRA LT that delivers a greater available capacity than standard Ni-Cd batteries at low temperatures (- 50°C to + 40°C), enabling a smaller battery to support the required load profile; SRA HT that offers superior charge efficiency at high temperatures (- 20°C to + 65°C) providing an increased capacity that ultimately results in a more compact battery solution.
The optimized electrical performance, extremely compact cells and very high energy density of the SRA LT/HT batteries are the ideal basis for battery systems that are lighter in weight and occupy less onboard space on a wide variety of modern trains such as urban transit (metros, tramways, tram-trains, airport shuttles), regional transport and intercity transport (high-speed trains, electric locomotives and passenger coaches).
The SRA design is fully compatible with Saft’s well established range of standardized railway battery systems while the robust and reliable Ni-Cd construction ensures a long and predictable service life.
