Integrated PowerSoCs offer industry's smallest footprint

Fully compliant with the Automotive Electronics Council (AEC-Q100) qualification standard temperature grade 2, nine PowerSoC devices have been released by Altera. The Altera Enpirion PowerSoCs which comply with the critical stress test qualification for automotive ICs include step-down devices from the EP53xx and EN63xx families.

Supporting up to 12A, these turnkey PowerSoCs provide designers with complete power systems which are fully simulated, characterised and production-qualified, accelerating the design-in process.

The PowerSoCs, which are suitable for Altera’s Cyclone FPGAs and SoCs and MAX FPGAs and CPLDs, integrate inductors, filter capacitors, a controller and MOSFETs. According to Altera, this integration enables the devices to provide a footprint which is 25 to 50% smaller footprint than competing switching regulators and modules.

Offering up to 96% peak efficiency, the Altera Enpirion PowerSoCs are suitable for infotainment and driver information applications, ADAS applications and electric vehicle and powertrain applications.
