The new A8600 from Allegro MicroSystems Europe is a highly-integrated power management IC that is designed to provide the power-supply requirements for next-generation car audio and infotainment systems. The new quadruple-output regulator device incorporates all the control and protection circuitry needed for four high-current regulators, each with ±1.5% output accuracy.

Cypress Semiconductor Corp today announced that Tesla Motors has selected its TrueTouch automotive touchscreen solution for the infotainment system in Model S, the world’s first premium electric sedan. The 17-inch touchscreen in Model S is the largest in a production vehicle to date, and is the first to integrate all functional controls into a touchscreen. To Model S, the TrueTouch solution brings design flexibility and a multi-touch experience that users expect even in challenging conditions.

New MOST Generation MOST150 Has Entered the Roads in the New Audi A3
The MOST Cooperation welcomes the recent rollout of the new Audi A3, the first car model that integrates the latest MOST Generation MOST150. Since first implementing MOST in an Audi car in 2002, MOST has become the established standard for the networking of premium infotainment systems at Audi, stated Stephan Esch, Head of Vehicle Networking, Technical Development at AUDI AG. Now the new generation MOST150 is being launched in the new Audi A3 series. This also initiates the vehicle platforms MQB (modular transverse construction set) and MLB (modular longitudinal construction set) which will proceed in upcoming vehicle models ranging from the Volkswagen Golf to the Audi A8. Following the Audi A3, the technology will roll out successively through each of the series in the Volkswagen group.

ST Innovation Brings Digital Amplifiers to the Dashboard for Better In-Car Audio, Energy Efficiency and Space Savings
STMicroelectronics has revealed the industry’s first full-digital audio-amplifier system-on-chip family suitable for use in dash-mounted sound-system control panels in the car. Class-D amplifiers achieve about 80% higher energy efficiency than analog class-AB amplifiers. This greater efficiency helps reduce the electrical load on the alternator and can allow extra functions or speaker channels within standardized enclosure dimensions.

Complete with full software stack and support for a number of different broadcasting standards, ST’s new digital radio chipset started volume production in Q2 2012.
