FISITA 2014 Congress to address intelligent transport

Aiming to bring he global automotive engineering community together to address 'Intelligent transport to solve our future mobility, safety and environmental challenges', theFISITA 2014 World Automotive Congress takes place 2-6 June 2014 in Maastricht, the Netherlands.

The Congress will open with keynote addresses from:

·         Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Board of Management, AUDI AG; Board Member for Technical Development, Volkswagen Group

·         Dr. Li Jun, President, FISITA; President, FAW Group Corporation R&D Center, China

·         Harrie Schippers, Chairman FISITA 2014 World Automotive Congress; President, DAF Trucks N.V.

·         Erik Jonnaert, Secretary General, ACEA

Harrie Schippers says: 

“The FISITA Congress theme will be thoroughly dissected by some of the greatest minds in academia, industry and government, working together to challenge conventional views of automotive engineering and to develop cleaner, safer, more efficient mobility for all.”

FISITA 2014 will explore essential automotive technology topics including: New Energy Powertrain; Clean and Efficient Engine Technologies; Lightweight Solutions; Vehicle Dynamics and Intelligent Vehicle Controls; and Advanced Safety Technologies amongst many others.

Ford Motor Company will hold an innovative plenary session on automated driving following the keynote addresses, moderated by Greg Stephens, Manager R&A Global Driver Assistance & Active Safety (GDAS) and Senior Tech Leader for Vehicle Dynamics, Ford Motor Company. The session will address the potential benefits, challenges, features and changes for drivers relating to automated driving. This will set the tone for the rest of the Congress with an expected 1200 delegates, speakers, scientists, managers and industry leaders attending to hear the latest automotive industry research developments.

An Executive Track to compile the very best papers on the most pressing technology issues and challenges facing the global automotive engineering community. Each Executive Track session will feature a specially-invited keynote speaker to provide expert analysis and industry insight.

The Educators Seminar will feature an invited panel of engineering education experts from Red Bull Racing, Mitsubishi, SAE International, Eindhoven University of Technology and Renault will discuss and debate Educating engineers for the global automotive industry – trends, challenges and solutions. The session will bring together educators, industry professionals, recruiters and students to discuss how graduate engineers can be better prepared for a career in automotive and what part industry and academia needs to play.

FISITA is the world body for automotive engineering: a federation of the major engineering societies in 37 countries working together to exchange technical knowledge on all aspects of vehicle design and manufacture, representing almost 200,000 automotive engineers worldwide.

FISITA 2014 offers a unique platform for companies and engineers to convene and discuss the automotive industry’s latest advances in business and technology including significant research and development activities in vehicle propulsion, dynamics, safety, weight-reduction and ITS.

The FISITA World Automotive Congress will also feature a vibrant exhibition with OEMs and suppliers demonstrating the latest technologies, products and services as well as providing an excellent forum for delegates to network and do business. Major companies such as DAF, China FAW, Robert Bosch GmbH and Toyota will be joined in the exhibition by European research institutes and technology clusters.   Maastricht acts as a strategic hub for the advanced mobility technology region including Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands and so provides a prime location for industry visits.
