Partnership enables autonomous driving development
Adaptive and intelligent computing specialist, Xilinx, and ZF Friedrichshafen (ZF), Tier-1 automotive supplier in driveline and chassis technology as well as active and passive safety technology, have announced a collaboration in which Xilinx technology will power ZF’s artificial intelligence (AI)-based automotive control unit, called the ZF ProAI, to enable automated driving applications.

In March this year Xilinx CEO Victor Peng revealed a new strategy for the company which embraced accelerating growth in core markets including automotive. Today (June 26) that vision received a significant boost with the announcement that Xilinx and Daimler-Benz are collaborating on an in-car system using Xilinx technology for artificial intelligence (AI) processing in automotive applications.

Bosch Motorsport is using Xilinx Zynq-7000 All Programmable devices

Xilinx reveals that Bosch Motorsport, part of Bosch Engineering Group, based in Abstatt, Germany, is using Xilinx Zynq-7000 All Programmable devices in its latest engine ECU processing core called HEL. The HEL based ECUs are plugged into the LMP1 race cars of a German OEM participating in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Xilinx Paves the Way for a New Generation of Automotive Driver Assistance and Infotainment Systems at CES 2012

Xilinx will demonstrate at the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) the world's first Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) based Ethernet Audio/Video Bridging (EAVB) network implementation optimized for carrying high-speed data traffic within the automobile. As consumer expectations for higher resolution displays and graphics quality in their driver assistance, navigation and passenger entertainment systems grow, so do the associated challenges of moving content around the vehicle. The demonstration will highlight the capabilities of the new EAVB Development Kit co-developed with Xilinx Alliance Program member Digital Design Corp.(DDC) to give automotive system developers the framework and tools necessary to accelerate their development of applications that deliver a richer experience for drivers and passengers.

Xilinx and Inova Semiconductors Simplify Design Integration of High-Bandwidth Video Connections for Automotive Applications

At Embedded World 2010, Xilinx and Inova Semiconductors introduced an Automotive Pixel Link (APIX(R)) IP solution for the Xilinx(R) Automotive (XA) family of low-cost Spartan(R)-6 field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). The configurable core supports multiple high-bandwidth video and communications links in a single device to transfer high-quality, real-time video from two or more cameras or processing units to in-vehicle displays. This highly integrated connectivity solution is targeted at infotainment and driver assistance applications.
