Connectors for communications between rail locomotives and vehicles
TE Connectivity has introduced MU27P connectors to ensure control and communication connections between railway locomotives and vehicles. The 27-point plugs and receptacles (including dummy receptacles) allow a single point in the train to issue up to 27 commands to all or some of the vehicles simultaneously. These connectors convey signals such as door controls and indications, public address, brake applied/released indications, as well as audio and other passenger rail functions.

High-speed trains equipped with high-voltage roofline equipment
TE Connectivity (TE) has been selected by train manufacturer Stadler to supply high-voltage electrical roofline equipment for the SMILE high-speed Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) trains. The SMILE is Stadler’s first high-speed platform. TE is supplying roofline cable assemblies and transformer down-leads that will form part of the current collectors on the roof of the SMILE trains that will carry current to the traction transformers.

High performance connectors for data transmission in rail networks
TE Connectivity has launched a new range of M12 rail connectors for field assembly. The M12 X-Code series connectors enable data transmission rates of up to 10Gb per second (according to IEC 802.3an Cat 6a), their full-metal shells provide all-round shielding against EMI/RFI interference, and they are sealed against dust and water to IP67 level. Intended applications include data and sensor networks, train door control assemblies and rail vehicle HVAC systems.
