Synopsys and Elektrobit (EB) have announced a collaboration to accelerate automotive electronic systems development using virtual environments. The two companies are collaborating to bring together Synopsys Virtualiser Development Kits (VDKs), EB operating systems, development and test tools, and complementary expertise to enable pre-silicon and pre-Electronic Control Unit (ECU) hardware availability and software development.

  It has been announced that Renesas Electronics has deployed Synopsys' DFTMAX LogicBIST solution on a mixed-signal, large scale integration (LSI) design to meet automotive safety integrity levels required by system integrators. DFTMAX LogicBIST enables the design to check itself upon power-up for faults, or conditions that could cause failures, and report their presence.

Test platform tools achieve ISO 26262 certification
It has been announced that Synopsys' test platform tools for high-quality manufacturing test are completely certified for the ISO 26262 automotive functional safety standard. To achieve this, SGS-TÜV Saar, an independent accredited assessor, recently certified the tool qualification reports for the DFTMAX, DFTMAX Ultra, and DFTMAX LogicBIST solutions. These certifications are in addition to previously certified Synopsys test products that include TetraMAX II ATPG solution, DesignWare STAR Memory System and STAR Hierarchical System.

Version 2017.03 SR1 of Synopsys' LucidDrive software has been announced. The software is used for night-driving simulations to evaluate road performance of vehicle headlight designs. LucidDrive technology provides precisely controlled simulations of vehicle lighting beam patterns and their appearance on the road, allowing designers to assess and improve design performance throughout product development.

After a successful beta release in October 2016, Synopsys is shipping a general release version of the product as of March 6, 2017.
