Murata has announced the availability of their new BLM18DN_SH series of noise filter ferrite beads. The new devices are specifically designed for automotive networks using Power over Coaxial (PoC) with high impedance, high frequencies and supporting large currents, up to 1,400mA. As vehicles become more complex and sophisticated and especially as a result of increased image sensing, data communication needs within vehicles have increased significantly.

Murata has announced the BLM31KN_BH series of chip ferrite beads for use in automotive powertrain safety applications with a high, guaranteed temperature capability of 150ºC. The 8th June 2016 saw the University of Nottingham’s (UoN) electric superbike become the fastest university-developed electric bike to go around the 37 mile Isle of Man road circuit winning 3rd place in the 2016 TT Zero race. Murata not only sponsored the bike but also provided IGBT gate drive DC/DC conversion technology which helped the team achieve the right balance of power output and energy preservation.

Second generation very high stability combined MEMS accelerometer and gyroscope suits automotive and industrial applications
Murata today announced the introduction of the SCC2000 series of combined accelerometer and gyroscope sensor devices aimed at use in tough environments such as those encountered in automotive and industrial applications. The series has best in class temperature dependency, shock sensitivity and bias stability characteristics and consists of a low-g 3-axis accelerometer with two angular rate sensor options of either X or Z-axis detection, together with a 32-bit digital SPI interface. The sensor has a software selectable 10 or 60 Hz low pass filter that can be configured via SPI. Gyro range is +/- 125 degrees per second with sensitivity of 50 LSB per degree per second. Typical accelerometer offset temperature drift is +/- 6 mg for the 2g sensor and +/-12mg for the 6g version. Gyroscope offset temperature drift is typically in the range +/-0.5°/s for the 125°/s X & Z -axis product versions. The Gyroscope has a typical offset short-term bias stability of 1°/h for the 125°/s X-axis device and 2°/h for the 125°/s Z-axis product. A combined sensor with a gyro having a range of up to 300 degrees per second is also available on customer request.

Murata today announced the SCA720 series of analog MEMS accelerometers aimed specifically at electrically controlled suspension and engine anti-vibration applications. Measuring only 7.0 x 8.6 z 3.3 mm and constructed from a single crystal silicon, the sensor is mechanically robust and has no deformation up to 70 000g. The accelerometer’s 3D structure employs capacitive sensing techniques that give it extremely sensitive measurement characteristics and excellent offset stability. Internal inert gas damping of the MEMS sensing element provides a mechanical low-pass filter that cuts off above 115 Hz and provide a good stable amplitude output and noise filtering.

Murata to start mass production of 200 Watt non-isolated DC-DC converter for Terra Motor’s new A4000i electric scooter

Murata today announced that they will shortly commence mass production of a dual output non-isolated DC-DC converter designed specifically for electric scooter applications. The high efficiency 200 Watt MPD7K046 converter accepts an input voltage in the range of +36 to + 60 VDC around a nominal +48 VDC. The primary output provides +12 VDC at a continuous rating of 10 A, and up to 18 A peak current. The secondary output delivers a +5 VDC / 1 A supply that suits logic rails and as a USB supply. Energy efficiency is typically 95%.

Murata today announced the ultra compact MHM500 ozonizer module constructed on a low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) element. Using a discharge electrode and a dielectric electrode within the LTCC board the ozonizer creates a stable supply of ozone, and because the electrodes are fabricated within the LTC element it offers a long life characteristic.

Achieving High Ripple Current Resistance and High Effective Capacitance

Murata Manufacturing Co. Ltd. has launched mass production of metal terminal monolithic ceramic capacitors that achieve high ripple-current resistance and high effective capacitance. The KR3 series for general-purpose applications and KC3 series for automotive applications are now available. The KR3 series capacitors comply with JIS standards and are optimal for general consumer and industrial electronic devices that are subject to thermal stress and/or vibration/mechanical impact. On the other hand, the KC3 series capacitors comply with the automotive electronic components standard known as AEC-Q200 and are optimal for automotive equipment such as engines, engine control units (ECU) , drive system control, and safety devices.
