Ficosa has reportedly become the first global manufacturer to receive European RED certification for its CarCom platform with Cellular-V2X technology. This platform integrates Qualcomm’s latest technology and has been certified in collaboration with Dekra Laboratories.

Provider of high-technology vision, safety, connectivity and efficiency systems for the automotive and mobility sectors, Ficosa, and Panasonic, have announced an agreement with BMW to provide their co-developed Interior rear-view mirror with electronic toll collection (ETC) 2.0 for the new X5 model in Japan. 

Idneo, the Ficosa group’s engineering firm specialised in the development of high-added-value technological products for the automotive, medical equipment, consumer electronics, industrial and smart solutions sectors, has signed a collaboration agreement with Jarvish, a Taiwanese smart-helmets company, to jointly develop the sector’s most innovative smart helmets, which will be sold on the European market.

Onboard Ventures has selected 10 start-ups to present their solutions for the automotive industry at the Automobile Barcelona Connected Hub, the renewed Salón del Automóvil of the Catalan capital. These start-ups will have a booth, promoted by Onboard Ventures in collaboration with 4YFN, at the 4YFN Mobility Village, where they will display their projects in areas like smart mobility and driverless vehicles.

Ficosa has become the first Spanish company to join the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA). The mission of this association is to accelerate development, standardisation and marketing of solutions for connected cars and autonomous vehicles and their integration into Smart Cities, as well as laying the groundwork for implementing 5G technology in the automotive sector.

  The presence of Ficosa has been boosted in the US by the opening of a manufacturing facility in Cookeville, Tennessee. With an investment of over $50m, the plant is equipped with the sector’s latest technology, becoming the most advanced in Ficosa’s global portfolio. 

  Ficosa is reinforcing its presence in Brazil with a plant in Jandira, in the São Paulo metropolitan area. With a total surface area of 13,000 m² and 273 workers, the factory will manufacture rear-view mirrors, control and command systems (brakes, gear shifts and cables), underhood solutions and electronic systems for automobiles.

An intelligent rearview mirror (IRMS) system which has an integrated display in the structure of the interior rearview mirror, has been introduced by Ficosa. The device works as a mirror or as a monitor that relays images from the camera located at the rear of the vehicle, according to the driver's needs.
