Elektromotive Limited, Europe’s leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charge points, is to create the UK’s largest pay-as-you-go, ‘open source’ network of public access charging stations for EVs, based upon the development of its proven pay-by-phone technology.

Elektromotive is urging the Government to continue offering the Plug-In Car Grant to buyers of electric vehicles into the next parliamentary session.

Elektromotive has been granted a Patent for its safe and secure Elektrobay charging station. Introduced in 2006, the Elektrobay was the first public charging station installed in the UK on the streets of Westminster in London. Its cutting-edge design and safe, secure usability has provided a viable solution to charging electric vehicles between journeys and has since been adopted across the UK and worldwide at over 2,000 sites.

Elektromotive, the Brighton-based electric vehicle (EV) recharging point manufacturer, has welcomed the announcement that a privately funded EV network is to be rolled out across the UK over the next 12 months.

The continued lack of agreement across Europe regarding a common standard for electric vehicle (EV) plugs and sockets is delaying the roll-out of recharging points and holding back volume sales of EVs to consumers and businesses.

Elektromotive is to provide 5 of its innovative Elektrobay electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for GreenFleet Scotland on 1 September 2011. In its capacity as official ‘Recharging Technology Partner’, Elektromotive will be responsible for keeping more than 20 ground-breaking EVs fully charged between test drives around the showground, including the Vauxhall Ampera extended-range EV and Nissan Leaf pure EV.

Elektromotive has been declared Small Business of the Year at the inaugural BusinessGreen Leaders Awards, held last week at a glittering ceremony in London.

Elektromotive is to provide eight of its innovative Elektrobay electric vehicle (EV) charging stations for this month’s GreenFleet Arrive ‘N’ Drive event. In its capacity as official Recharging Technology Partner, Elektromotive will be responsible for keeping more than 20 ground-breaking EVs fully charged between laps of the Rockingham circuit.
