A family of dual-channel optocoupler devices designed for automotive applications with AECQ100 Grade 1 qualification has been released by Avago Technologies. The R2Coupler ACFL-521xT is optimised for low power systems supporting data rates up to 1MBd, while the ACFL-621xT is optimised for high speed systems supporting data rates up to 15MBd.

The devices have two optocoupler channels internally aligned 180° of each other, thereby providing optimum chip pin-out configuration for bi-directional Tx/Rx data communication design and board layout. Furthermore, the two channels are electrically independent and galvanically isolated, providing an ideal isolated bi-directional power system communication interface. The ACFL-521xT and ACFL-621xT feature 8mm wide creepage and clearance, high dielectric breakdown isolation voltage (VISO) up to 5,000 VRMS for one minute, and high continuous working voltage (VIORM) up to 1,140 VPEAK. The devices are packaged in a compact SSO-12 package comparable to the SSO-8 footprint of previous generation devices.

Avago will be showcasing the ACFL-521xT and ACFL-621xT in the Avago booth 6-206 at the PCIM Europe 2015 exhibition in Nuremberg, Germany from 19th to 21st May.

“Avago’s latest ACFL family of dual-channel optocouplers will benefit a wide range of high temperature automotive under-the-hood applications,” said Cheng-Dee Lee, Business Development Director, Isolation Products Division, Avago. “This dual-channel optocoupler family is an important addition to Avago’s existing portfolio of 125°C optocoupler solutions, addressing the new automotive trend towards high application voltage of up to 1,000V.”

Samples of the ACFL-5211T, ACFL-5212T, ACFL-6211T, ACFL-6212T and evaluation boards are now available.
