Among the fastest low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) comparators on the market, the MAX40025 and MAX40026 single-supply, high-speed comparators from Maxim Integrated deliver fast propagation delay for distance sensing, time-of-flight (ToF), and high-speed test and measurement instruments. They are available at Mouser Electronics.

The single-supply, high-speed comparators have a typical propagation delay of 280ps and an extremely low overdrive dispersion of 25ps (typical).

They are compatible with the outputs of several widely used high-speed transimpedance amplifiers, such as the MAX40658, due to their input common-mode range of 1.5V to VDD+0.1V.

Both the MAX40025 and MAX40026 run from a supply voltage of 2.7V to 3.6V.

The devices can flexibly interface with many modern FPGAs and CPUs since the devices’ output stage is specified for LVDS.

This capability enables the comparators to help minimise power dissipation (which aids in system optimisation), and complementary outputs help in the suppression of common-mode noise on each output line.

Compared to single-ended outputs, the devices’ fully differential LVDS outputs deliver the high-speed digital signaling and reduced EMI necessary for a variety of low-noise, high-performance designs.

Maxim’s MAX4002x comparators are available in a space-saving, compact, 1.218 mm × 0.818 mm WLP package (MAX40025) or an AEC-Q100 automotive qualified 2 mm × 2 mm TDFN package (MAX40026).

For development, Mouser is also stocking the MAX40025EVKIT evaluation kit with layout options that allow engineers to easily modify the input termination.

The comparators are ideal for a broad range of applications, including LIDAR, radar, and sonar; ToF sensors; high-speed differential line receivers; high-speed triggering in oscilloscopes; and communications equipment.
