Molex Incorporated successfully acquired ISO/TS-16949:2009 certification for Automotive Quality Management System Standards at its Taipei, Taiwan copper flex products facility. Conferred by an authorised third party, the certification demonstrates a commitment to stringent and improved management standards.
“As a trusted partner to automotive OEMs and suppliers, Molex strives continually to refine and perfect operational procedures,” remarks Daniel Dawiedczyk, marketing and engineering manager, copper flex products, Molex. “The ISO/TS-16949:2009 certification process focused on advancing a consistent, enterprise-wide framework for best practices in documentation, design, validation and verification at every level – from initial engineering solutions to Molex global manufacturing plants.”
Developed by the IATF (International Automotive Task Force), ISO/TS-16949:2009 certification aggregates the requirements of the ISO 9000 standard with AVSQ (Italian), EAQF (French) and VDA 6.1 (German) automotive requirements. Certified suppliers must demonstrate a commitment to quality management system standards, continual improvement of manufacturing efficiency, product defect prevention, and reduction of production variation and waste in the automotive supply chain.
The mid-2008 acquisition of Taipei, Taiwan-based subsidiary Aflextech, Inc. expanded Molex capabilities in the design and manufacture of flex circuits and assemblies for automotive applications in addition to other markets such as medical, military, and data communications.
Adds Dawiedczyk: “As a partner and product resource for tier one vehicle manufacturers and suppliers, we are pleased to provide customers with ISO/TS-16949:2009 certification, a global industry benchmark for quality and integrity.”
