A three-month global search for the best up-and-coming engineering talent has yielded a record number of entries for the INFINITI Engineering Academy. From the applications received, only the top 70 engineering students will go through to one of the seven regional finals (USA, Canada, Mexico, Europe incl. Russia, United Arab Emirates, China and Asia–Pacific).

This unique automotive-to-motorsport training programme for brilliant young engineers, possible thanks to INFINITI’s Technical Partnership with the Renault Sport Formula One Team, has attracted 4,108 registrations from 44 different countries – a 100% increase from the 2015 edition and almost a 300% increase from its inaugural year in 2014.

Finalists will have the opportunity to secure one of just seven year-long placements available to work with INFINITI Motor Company and Renault Sport Formula One Team.

“The extraordinary level of interest in this year’s INFINITI Engineering Academy has been absolutely fantastic. Students have seen the accomplishments of our Academies graduates and decided that they want to use the Academy to gain vital engineering experience and launch their own careers. This is due to the unique nature of the placement, which combines work experience in both Automotive and Formula One” said Tommaso Volpe, Global Director, INFINITI Motorsport.

“We are absolutely delighted with the Academy winners that we have working with us at Enstone this year.” said Bob Bell, Chief Technical Officer, Renault Sport Formula One Team. “The students have taken on real jobs with the team and have been a big asset to us as we continue to strengthen our technical resource.

“It is going to be a tough job to select the winners from such a strong entry, but I’m looking forward to the challenge. It will be great to welcome the next generation of winners from all over the world to the Team.” Concluded Bell.

Regional Finals
Following a comprehensive recruitment process, the very best student engineers from seven competing regions will be selected to attend final selection events taking place around the world between July and October.

These high pressure assessment days, judged by senior engineers from both INFINITI and the Renault Sport Formula One Team, will see the finalists evaluated on both their technical knowledge and practical skills, in high precision engineering assessments. At the European final, Renault Sport Racing Formula One driver Kevin Magnussen will join the judging panel, to increase the pressure on the candidates.

Just one winner from each region will be crowned champion and secure a highly sought after year-long placement in the United Kingdom, working in both the premium automotive industry and high-octane world of motorsport.
