Real world driving emissions testing demonstrated at AQE
At the Air Quality & Emissions Show (AQE) that took place at Telford, UK, on 24th to 25th May 2017, Ricardo demonstrated its new real world driving emissions measurement service, and discussed the first results from its roadside vehicle monitoring research. Ricardo launched its vehicle emission measurement service in April 2017. The system uses absorption spectroscopy to monitor and record emissions such as NOx and NO2 from a vehicle’s exhaust as it passes by a roadside sensor.

The Connected and Digital Technology Zone will be taking place at Automechanika Birmingham on stand B11 with the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) demonstrating the latest automotive technologies throughout the event from 6th-8th June 2017. The area, found in the supply chain zone, will feature the latest products set to enable the design, development and manufacture of future vehicles.

Energy efficient vehicle designed for Shell Eco-marathon

A team of engineering students at London South Bank University have designed an ultra-fuel-efficient car to be put to the test on the track at the 2017 Shell Eco-marathon. The competition, now in its 33rd year, brings together approximately 200 universities from around Europe, challenging students to create vehicles which use as little fuel or electricity as possible. Six students, supervised by Senior Lecturer in Electronic Engineering Dr Antonio Vilches, have been working on a vehicle since October to compete at Olympic Park next weekend.

Identification solutions on show at Automechanika 2017
At Automechanika 2017, Pryor will be showcasing its comprehensive range of solutions for identifying and tracing parts in the automotive manufacturing process. Visitors to the Pryor stand will see the company’s fully automated systems for VIN marking on chassis, engines and gearboxes using laser, dot peen and scribe engraving. Visitors will also get to experience the marking process first-hand. Pryor will have its robot demonstrator on-stand, showcasing automatic marking on an engine.

Though the country has been a major player in the automotive parts industry for many years, it has only been in the past three or four years that it has woken up to the fact that its long standing skills in electronics could open up the growing vehicle electronics market.

ARCCORE joins Automotive Grade Linux and The Linux Foundation

ARCCORE has joined AGL (Automotive Grade Linux), a collaborative open source project developing a Linux-based, open platform for the connected car at The Linux Foundation. ARCCORE is now listed as a Bronze Member at AGL and as a Silver Member within The Linux Foundation.

At the RailTex exhibition, which is taking place from 9th to 11th May at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), Birmingham, European manufacturer of rail network access chambers, covers and cable protection, Cubis Systems, will be exhibiting. Cubis will be showing its variety of innovative (PADs) approved rail products from stand R17 at the event, which brings the latest railway equipment, systems and services to rail network planning and construction specialists.

Provider of outsourced services to the UK automotive sector, Leadec will be promoting its extensive range of services to vehicle manufacturers and first tier suppliers on stand 19D70 at Automechanika Birmingham 2017. Formerly known as Voith Industrial Services, Leadec will be exhibiting two wheel and tyre assemblies, left and right hand struts, and an axle assembly. The company will also be promoting other key production, facility and supply chain services.
