Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe successfully proved its software development process maturity in an independent assessment.

Scope of the assessment was the Automotive SPICE® HIS Scope, excluding ACQ.4 Supplier Monitoring, which is available in the process landscape of Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe, but which was not applied within the project assessed.

The assessment was performed by Method Park, a Germany-based partner for development processes especially in the automotive domain. Method Park has a wide range of experience and know-how successfully providing advice covering the full software and systems engineering sector. In particular, their consulting for Automotive SPICE® (Software Process Improvement and Capability Determination), supports customers on how to implement SPICE requirements efficiently in development projects.

“The assessment showed that the software development organisation of Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe is able to develop products using capable processes. It was impressive how the processes improved in comparison to an assessment performed in 2008. The organisation seems to be well prepared to also reach level 3”, said Dr. Holger Höhn, intacs™ ISO/IEC 15504 Competent Assessor (Automotive SPICE®) at Method Park.

The assessment report points out several highlights in the software development lifecycle, with comments such as “Elaborated Project Management”, ”Software Architecture and Design is superb” and “Automated tests with integration test sets”.

Sven Natus, Manager Software at Fujitsu Semiconductor Europe, said: “We deliver right sized system solutions ranging from standard MCU products to System-on-Chip (SoC) devices. By setting ourselves the target of achieving the Automotive SPICE® (ISO15504) capability Level 2 for the HIS Scope we made the grade on the high quality demand of the automotive market. We were very satisfied with the support of Method Park’s consultants in assessing and approving our processes.”

With these given results Fujitsu Semiconductor once more demonstrates its capabilities of being a competent partner for the development of automotive system solutions.

Fujitsu Semiconductor’s system approach strategy is also supported by Fujitsu Embedded Solutions Austria (FEAT), providing software solutions tailored to customers’ needs in areas such as automotive HMIs or cluster applications.
