It takes a tough nut to survive life on the road

It takes a tough nut to survive life on the road
As emissions regulations become stricter and the price of oil continues to rise, there’s no hiding from the fact that the Heavy Duty Truck and Motor trade is becoming ever more competitive. This is why manufacturers are striving to reduce vehicle weight and maximise reliability - so their customers can profit from every extra mile. Companies like Optimas are able to find innovations on seemingly simple components to give manufacturers an edge.

Smart power switches offer improved efficiency & miniaturisation

Smart power switches offer improved efficiency & miniaturisation
Car makers want in-vehicle electronic systems to provide a large number of energy-efficient functions in as little space as possible. Infineon supports this trend with its new power IC manufacturing technology SMART7. Infineon designed it specifically for automotive applications such as body control modules or power distribution centres. SMART7 power ICs drive, diagnose and protect loads in applications like heating, power distribution, air-conditioning, exterior and interior lighting, seat and mirror adjustment.

Laser transmission welding selected for TPMS sensors

Laser transmission welding selected for TPMS sensors
The tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensors industry is expected to grow by 17% in 2017 as ever more countries see the importance of TPMS sensors. With a production volume of more than 300 million so far, Schrader is a key player in the worldwide TPMS market. Total demand is expected to reach 55 million vehicle sets. China might hold the biggest promise here, too. At the same time, the total market share of indirect systems (systems without their own sensors) is expected to shrink.
