Joint experiment with next-gen electricity system announced

TRENDE, a Tokyo Electric Power Company group company, Toyota Motor and the University of Tokyo have announced that they will conduct a joint experiment with a next-gen peer-to-peer (P2P) electricity system that enables homes, businesses, and Electric Vehicles (EVs) connected to the electricity grid to trade electricity using a blockchain. The test will run from June 2019 at Toyota's Higashi Fuji Technical Center and the surrounding area.

A third generation humanoid robot named T-HR3 has been revealed by Toyota Motor. The company's latest robotics platform, designed and developed by Toyota's Partner Robot Division, explores new technologies for safely managing physical interactions between robots and their surroundings, as well as a new remote maneuvering system that mirrors user movements to the robot.

Latest technology means longer battery life

Toyota Motor has developed a way of observing the movements of tiny particles in batteries used to power electric vehicles—an advance it says will help boost their cruise range by 10% to 15%. Toyota engineer Hisao Yamashige explained to reporters Thursday at the Japanese automaker's Tokyo office the complex method for tracking the lithium ions, which are tiny particles in lithium-ion batteries, also used in laptops and smartphones.
