An industrial Ethernet switch, designated the TGS-1080-M12, has been launched by ORing. The full-Gigabit switch has a number of features which enable the device to provide stable data communications for moving vehicles. These features include integrated M12 connectors, an IP-40 casing and a temperature range from -40 to 70°C. The switch's 8 ports also make the device suited to rolling stock applications.

The device consists of eight 10/100/1000Base-T(X) ports, two of which are bypass enabled, allowing the delivery of HD data to high bandwidth equipment. The two bypass ports, acting as standard Ethernet ports in normal conditions, create an in-line connection when a power outage occurs. This enhances network reliability due to network traffic in the failed switch still being able to transmit to other active switches.

The TGPS-1080-M12-BP2-24V industrial Ethernet switch is also available from ORing, providing a POE function conforming to IEEE 802.3af/at standard. The device is suited for applications outdoors, in remote areas, or in environments where power outlets are difficult to access. Power supply costs are cut due to vendors not needing to install additional power supplies.
