PROVERTHA produces customer-specific connectors and robust battery leads and sensor cables for the automotive industry

One of PROVERTHA’s specialities is the fully automated, process-reliable production of board-to-board connectors, such as e.g. for the production of a compact tuner assembly or the realisation of sensor connections and interfaces for control units in cars. The space-saving connectors combine e.g. the SMT and THR types of contacts. A major criterion for the safe and reliable use of the connectors is the coplanarity of the SMT connections with a tolerance of +/- 0.05mm (max.) across all the contacts in the connection area. In collaboration with a long-standing expert partner for special-purpose machinery, a corresponding automatic pick-and-place system has been developed and produced for single and multi-row board-to-board connectors.

For the process-reliable production of battery connecting leads with cable cross-sections of 10 to 50 mm², PROVERTHA has teamed up with a partner to develop a fully automatic production line. This automatic system is designed for the economical and efficient production of battery leads. The system is based on a cable assembly machine, which has been extended into a sophisticated, fully automated production line through the specific use of various processing modules.

PROVERTHA uses a PC-controlled worktop soldering robot with three axes to produce safe and reliable point-to-point solder connections on sensor cables. During this process, the tinned single conductor ends of a light plastic-sheathed cable are contacted with the sensor connections of the sensor cable. The high positional reproducibility of +/- 20 µm plus the free and full programmability of the soldering positions, soldering iron and the axes permits an extremely high degree of process quality.

On the basis of its efficient cable assembly processes, PROVERTHA manufactures various products for the automotive industry, which include battery connecting leads, battery management cables, sensor cables with ultrasonic sensors, supply cables for the vehicle control system, sensor cables with exhaust gas sensors, antenna cables, supply lines for the hands-free equipment and for the glove compartment lighting, etc. All of these applications call for utmost reliability and robustness in what are often restricted installation conditions.
