"We were pleased to choose Micrel not only for its excellent products but for the working relationship and world class customer support," noted Joe Tan, Director of R&D at Wheels Electronics.  "In addition, Micrel exhibited a comprehensive understanding of the automotive market via their long term focus in helping us reduce costly component count.  By helping us design more cost effective products, Micrel allowed us to pass along savings to our customers, particularly in our antenna designs."

"Micrel doesn't just make a sale, we make a relationship first and foremost," stated David Schwartz, vice president worldwide sales, Micrel.  "By understanding our customers and their unique needs, we are best able to help our customers succeed.  In addition, we maintain a long-term focus on the worldwide automotive market and are pleased to be able to help the team of Wheels Electronics reach their goals."

Wheels Electronics is utilizing Micrel's range of RF IC solutions.  The MICRF211 and MICRF213,  for example, are general purpose, 3V QwikRadio® receivers operating at 433.92MHz with typical sensitivity of -110dBm and 315MHz with typical sensitivity of -110dBm, respectively.  Another one of Micrel's RF solutions is the MICRF113 is a high-performance, easy-to-use, single-chip ASK Transmitter IC for remote wireless applications in the 300MHz to 450MHz frequency band.  The MICRF211 functions as a super-heterodyne receiver for OOK and ASK modulation up to 10kbps and the MICRF213 is a super-heterodyne receiver for OOK and ASK modulation up to 7.2kbps.

The down-conversion mixer provides image rejection on both the MICRF211 and MICRF213.  All post-detection data filtering is provided on each of the devices and the user need only configure the device with a set of easily determined values, based upon data rate, code modulation format, and desired duty-cycle operation.  These products are ideal for industrial and consumer applications where simplicity and form factor are important.
