Designed for use in SEPIC DC/DC converters, the Vishay Dale IHCL devices mark the first in a series of composite-coupled inductors from Vishay. Built on Vishay's IHLP technology, the device have been optimised for SEPIC converter circuits in automotive LED lighting.

The devices are available in a 4040 case size, with two inductors featured in the same package boasting a magnetic coupling of > 90%. By integrating two inductors in a 10.16 x 10.67 mm package with a low 4.0mm profile, the IHCL devices enable engineers to design more compact, robust, and efficient SEPIC converter circuits while lowering overall costs. The devices further boast high-temperature performance to +155 °C, a frequency range of up to 5.0 MHz, and are available in eight inductance values ranging from 2.2 µH to 47 µH. Additionally, The inductors handle high transient current spikes without hard saturation and are specified for an operating temperature range of -55 °C to +155 °C.

The devices are packaged in an RoHS-compliant, 100% lead (Pb)-free shielded, composite construction which reduces buzz noise to ultra-low levels. The devices also have a high resistance to thermal shock, moisture, mechanical shock, and vibration. As well as automotive LED lighting, the devices are also suited for use in common mode applications.
