In the Audi Centre in Karlsruhe, Rutronik unveiled the new Distribution Art Car, marking a continuation by the distributor of the successful project that combines art, electronics and motorsport, all in the name of a worthy cause. An art car is a fully functional car designed as an artwork. Rutronik’s Distribution Art Car 2017 follows the motto 'show your FACE the truth'. In this campaign, everyone had the opportunity to submit a portrait image for a small donation.

The collected photos, together with the 22 logos from well-known businesses in the electronics industry, provided the basis for the design that now adorns the Distribution Art Car.

The campaign collected 12,000€, and this amount will be donated to the Bundesverband Herzkranke Kinder (Federal Association for Children with Heart Diseases), a charity that supports families with children who suffer from congenital heart conditions with a variety of services. The amount of the donations was boosted by a further 1,600€ with the auctioning off of events and objects related to the Distribution Art Car., including a race car passenger ride. Also, 25 children with heart conditions have the opportunity to experience the races live at the Hockenheimring and Nürburgring – including a behind-the-scenes look at the pit stops and the chance to see the inside of the race car for themselves.

The Distribution Art Car. 2017 was presented yesterday evening at the Audi Centre in Karlsruhe, with 100 guests invited. They were visibly impressed by the innovative design of the Audi R8 LMS. Fabian Plentz, Assistant to the Management at Rutronik and himself a successful race driver, led the attendees through the evening. “Electronics and motorsports are closely intertwined, because many innovations make their way from motorsports to serially produced vehicles, and the role of electronics in these vehicles continues to grow,” explained Thomas Rudel, CEO of Rutronik. “The automotive market also accounts for the largest share of Rutronik’s business. With projects such as the Distribution Art Car. and our support for the Formula Student Team Pforzheim, we are able to collect valuable practical knowledge and facilitate the transfer of knowledge between partners and customers. With the art car, we are pleased to be able to also make a small contribution for the benefit of children with heart conditions and their families.”

The Distribution Art Car. is driven by Team HCB-Rutronik Racing in the DMV GTC racing series, and will also be a prominent eyecatcher at a number of trade fairs and events. The Audi R8 LMS performs at 430kW (585HP) with an engine displacement of 5,200ccm and a V10 motor, while the chassis consists of an Audi Space Frame (ASF) made of an aluminum/CRP hybrid structure with a load-bearing steel roll cage and body parts made of CRP and aluminum.
