In response to requests from automotive engineers and customer feedback, W. L. Gore & Associates’ automotive venting team has launched a new website that provides easy access to product information and performance data. With enhanced navigation and search features, the new www.gore.com/auto site enables engineers to evaluate different venting options and assess Gore’s unique options for solving automotive challenges.

Two interactive 3D vehicles enable the site visitor to quickly access specific information about venting solutions for common environmental challenges encountered by components in gasoline, hybrid and electric vehicles. These include:

• harsh road and under-the-hood contaminants that reduce the lifespan of electronic control units, sensors and motors
• pressure differentials that compromise seals in drive trains, drive lines and fluid reservoirs
• water and moisture vapor ingress that cause condensation and decrease lighting efficiency in advanced lamp technologies
• extreme temperature differentials that adversely affect electric traction motors, converters/inverters, and batteries/chargers in hybrid and electric vehicles

Collaborating with top OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers for more than 25 years, Gore’s automotive team has developed extensive expertise in protecting against the environmental issues that can compromise the long-term reliability of automotive components. According to Dave DeGuiseppi, global business leader for GORE® Automotive Vents, today’s automotive engineers have requested easier access to Gore’s research and product information. DeGuiseppi explains, “The Internet has become the primary source for all types of design research about product information. We have responded to our customers’ requests by providing data about the different performance levels of our venting products, the standards they meet, and various design options, so automotive engineers can select the best venting solution for their specific applications.”
