Designed for military and avionics platforms requiring high density communications and performance in SWaP-constrained environments, a Quad Core Power PC, 3U cPCI COTS SBC has been introduced by North Atlantic Industries (NAI).

Powered by NXP’s 1.2 GHz Quad QorIQ P2041 PowerPC processor, the 75PPC1-FT3-AR1 is configured with quad channel, dual redundant, MIL-STD-1553B and 12-channel ARINC 429/575 Tx/Rx communications bus ports. This 3U cPCI rugged SBC leverages NAI’s modular COTS products built on an open systems architecture allowing technology insertion and conforms to all open standards.

Configuration includes:

  • MIL-STD-1553B – (FT3) quad-channel, dual redundant, balanced-line physical layer; a (differential) network interface; time division multiplexing; half-duplex command/response protocol; and up to 31 remote terminals per channel designed for use with rugged and commercial avionics applications.
  • ARINC 429/575 – (AR1) up to twelve programmable Rx/Tx channels. Provides essential air-data information for displays, autopilots and other flight controls and instrumentation on commercial and military aircraft.

Lino Massafra, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, NAI, commented: “The 75PPC1-FT3-AR1 tests the boundaries of high performance computation in small form factor, rugged defence products while maximising MIL-STD-1553B and ARINC 429/575 communications in a single 3U slot. This is just one of the numerous solutions NAI provides that drastically lowers programme risk and reduces operating costs in processing and avionics communications applications.”

The 75PPC1-FT3-AR1 supports up to 8GB DDR3L SDRAM, up to 32GB SATA II NAND Flash, two Gig-E ports, Wind River Linux or VxWorks, operation from -40 to +85°C and continuous background built-in-test.

Avaiable in conduction- and air-cooled versions, pricing for the 75PPC1-FT3-AR1 starts at $12,784 in quantities of 100 or more.
